Lancia Pu+Ra HPE Concept Is The Company's Initial Foray Into The Electric Vehicle Market

Lancia has just dropped a bombshell with their brand new Pu+Ra HPE concept. Starting in 2024 with the all-new Ypsilon and continuing with exclusively electric releases starting in 2026, Lancia's Pu+Ra HPE is one first step in the company's electrification plan.

The "Pu+Ra" in "Pu+Ra+HPE" refers to the company's new "pure" and "radical" design philosophy, while the "HPE" is a reference to the Beta HPE (High Performance Electric) of the 1970s. Legendary cars like the Stratos, Beta, and Flaminia have influenced the styling of the electric coupe.

The front of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE features a unique three-pointed light signature that reinterprets the brand's iconic grille design. The inspiration for the car's rear end was drawn directly from the Stratos. The paint color of the concept car, known as "Progressive Green", is believed to embody the vehicle's environmental consciousness.

Lancia has teamed up with the fabulous Italian furniture brand Cassina to create the most stunning interior for their car. Specifically, the interior has all the feel of an Italian home. For example, the round table and carpets add a cozy touch, and the seats take their design cues from one of Cassina's iconic armchairs.

Also, the use of wood, wool, and nubuck creates a welcoming atmosphere. Numerous eco-friendly materials are used throughout the cabin. The table is composed of bio-based cellulose acetate, the door cards are completed in a special material that blends marble dust waste and recovered fabric, and the seats are upholstered in a velvet mix with little chemical manipulation.

Another great addition to the car is the S.A.L.A. (Sound Air Light Augmentation) user interface. This innovative technology is designed to enhance the driving experience for both drivers and passengers by intelligently adapting the vehicle's settings to match their feelings and habits. With S.A.L.A., personalizing the road experience has never been easier. The car's radio, climate control, and illumination are all controllable via voice or button thanks to Chameleon and TAPE (Tailored Predictive Experience) technology.

To demonstrate the reliability of the Pu+Ra HPE, Lancia borrowed the Ypsilon's soon-to-be-released engine, battery, suspension, and brakes. Lancia aims for a 435-mile driving range, a 10-minute 0% to 100% charge time, and an energy usage of less than 10 kWh per 62 mph. Looking forward to these numbers really materializing.
