Karlmann King: The Most Expensive SUV In The World
by AutoExpert | 12 August, 2021
Usually, auto devotees think that all SUVs appear to be the same. However, this isn't true when it comes to the limited-edition Karlmann King.
Karlmann King is modeled on a Ford F-550 and was created by Chinese business IAT and produced by a team in Europe to provide a "stealth" car with an unequaled visual feast. However, the angular exterior has garnered similarities to Batman's Batmobile from DC Comics.
The huge Karlmann King is about 6 meters long and weighs 4.5 tonnes, while optional bulletproofing increases this to a whopping 6,000 kg. A 6.8-liter V10 from Ford's F-550 sits beneath the hood, though it's been tinkered with to produce around 395 bhp.
With four-wheel drive and air suspension front and back, the motor is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. Despite the V10's increased power, it isn't enough to defeat the Karlmann King's massive curb weight, with a maximum speed of only 87mph feasible.
This makes it slower than a typical Dacia Sandero, but with a rumored starting price of £1.56 million. The roof has starlight headlining similar to the Rolls-Royce Phantom, and the luxurious leather upholstery may be customized with a variety of color options.
To list a few comforts, there is front and back independent air conditioning, a coffee machine, neon illumination, a flat-screen TV, electrified tables, air purification, and a refrigerator. An in-car app controls all of the smart features. A Hi-Fi sound system, a PlayStation 4, and phone projection are available for pleasure, as well as satellite TV.
IAT will produce less than a dozen Karlmann Kings, which were shown at the Dubai International Motor Show.
