Forget Brakes With The DS E Tense Performance Concept
by AutoExpert | 5 May, 2022
The newest concept automobile from DS Automobiles challenges us to picture a future where vehicles do not have brakes. The DS E Tense Performance slows down without the need for traditional braking systems that we are all familiar with.
Regenerative braking technology is used instead of disc brakes to control the vehicle's speed. In collaboration with DS's Formula E team, the E Tense Performance utilizes the same engines as the single-seat racers.
Now, the DS E Tense Performance has 804 horsepower and a whopping 5,900 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0-62 mph in under 2.0 seconds.
No one is surprised by the idea of using regenerative braking. DS Automobiles, on the other hand, is looking ahead and studying the possibility of eliminating traditional rotors and hydraulic calipers. The weight savings from eliminating the bulky disc braking equipment is one of the advantages of this configuration.
DS Automobiles CEO Beatrice Foucher stated, "Formula E is about maximizing performance and efficiency, and the DS E Tense Performance is our vision of a road car utilizing our race-winning technology."
