First Look At The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
by AutoExpert | 28 September, 2021
Before its official unveiling on Tuesday, October 26th, the carmaker has revealed the first image of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Without any masking, this is our first formal glimpse at the 2019 Corvette Z06. A new bodykit with a unique front bumper inspired by the Corvette C8.R race car, broader fenders, and larger side intakes can be seen.
The multi-spoke wheels look to be exclusive to the Z06, and the lack of a permanent rear spoiler could indicate that the vehicle will be available in multiple visual and aero packages.
Designs of the Z06 with two distinct styles of rear spoilers have been spotted at the Nürburgring in recent months. The disguised Corvette in Chevrolet's official teaser clip bears a resemblance to those versions, with the quadruple exhaust pipes emitting a distinctive V8 sound.
With glimpses of the C8.R racecar in between shots, the movie shows the track-focused Vette being tested on both the Green Hell and the Le Mans circuits. It's been reported that the 2023 Corvette Z06 set a 7:12 lap time in traffic at the Nürburgring, implying that a sub-7 minute pace is attainable.
A new engine will be used in the Z06, in addition to changes to the aero, brakes, and suspension setup. The 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine is said to produce 617-hp (460 kW / 626 PS) and torque of 480 lb-ft (651 Nm). This is a healthy boost over the previous generation's 495-hp (369 kW / 502 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of the Corvette Stingray's 6.2-liter V8.
More performance correlates to a max speed of more than 184 mph (296 km/h) and a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of fewer than 2.9 seconds. As we get closer to the debut of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, additional teases and information will be released.
