First Look At NASA Crew Transportation Vehicles From Canoo
by AutoExpert | 1 July, 2022
Canoo has made public the very first photographs of the transport vehicles it has designed for NASA. In April, the company was awarded a contract to provide NASA with the Crew Transportation Vehicles needed for Project Artemis.
This program seeks to return astronauts to the moon's surface by 2025. As part of Project Artemis, NASA sought a zero-emission vehicle capable of transporting four astronauts, three extra crew members, and a driver. Five equipment bags, four cooling units, and a pad transfer bag are also required for the vehicles.
NASA will get modified variants of Canoo's upcoming Lifestyle Vehicle. This is anticipated to be the company's first production model and is designed in both consumer/business-oriented configurations. Buyers will be able to get their hands on the vehicle by early 2023. By June 2023, Canoo will have delivered all NASA Crew Transportation Vehicles.
Canoo plans to offer the Lifestyle Vehicle in Base, Premium, Adventure, and Delivery configurations, with pricing beginning at $34,750. The electric motor is capable of producing 300 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque.
