Cupra's fourth birthday was marked yesterday with the revelation of its 2022 ambitions, which were dubbed "Cupra x 2". The manufacturer plans to launch two new models in 2022 in an effort to increase its sales, revenue, and worldwide reach. Cupra has also revealed the "Metahype" metaverse environment and a new "Cupra2" racing experience that merges the physical and virtual worlds.

The totally electric Cupra Tavascan will be the first of the new vehicles, arriving in 2024, joined by the production model of the UrbanRebel concept in 2025. Both are likely to be built on separate versions of the MEB chassis, with the Tavascan being tied to the VW ID.4 and the UrbanRebel to the forthcoming VW ID.2.

Cupra

These should accompany the Cupra Born, as well as the current ICE-powered Leon, Ateca, and Formentor, in the company's EV lineup. To reach more potential consumers and double profits in 2022, the firm should double its distribution of Cupra Specialists and Cupra City Garages this year. Cupra sold 79,300 units in 2021, up 189 percent over the previous year.

Cupra

In terms of technological announcements, the "Metahype" is Cupra's interpretation of the Metaverse. It is defined as an immersive virtual reality experience environment where companies, entrepreneurs, and content providers may hold a range of events. Among the activities will be the display of NFTs, digital and physical goods, and multimedia streaming.

Cupra

The Metahype was created in partnership with Mediapro Group's VISYON. Cupra will have its area on the platform, and it has already confirmed that Primavera Sound and UBEAT, two music and entertainment brands, would be embracing the digital world. Cupra will also soon release the Cupra2 Experience, which will allow participants to race both in real life and in virtual reality.

The carmaker will auction off an NFT of the UrbanRebel concept before the release of the new racing experience, with the winner being one of the first to enjoy the new racing experience.
