Automobili Amos Showcases The Rally-Ready Delta Safarista

A new off-road Futurista restomod modeled on a Lancia Delta has been presented by Italian coachbuilder Automobili Amos. This rally-ready reconstruction, dubbed the Delta Safarista and built on an Integrale 16V donor car, boasts a whole new body with the two rear doors deleted and dramatically enlarged fender flares instead.
Unlike the Futurista, it has safari-style bumpers that clearly distinguish it from the latter. Mudflaps and under-body bash plates are included as part of the rally-inspired design. The Safarista, like the Futurista, relies heavily on carbon fiber in its construction. The road-going car has a curb weight of 1250 kg, so this one is likely to be even lighter.
According to Amos, the Safarista was created with functionality and durability over beauty as a guiding principle. Removing all unnecessary features from the original Delta Integrale has resulted in a vehicle with just two seats, a roll cage, a hydraulic handbrake, and a racing-style display placed to the bare steering column.
Details on the Safarista's engine have not been disclosed, but Amos has confirmed that it will be made by Autotecnica Motori, which is the same Italian company that manufactures 330 hp engines for Futurista. A sequential gearbox inspired by motorsport is used, and the automobile is equipped with adjustable suspension that is likewise inspired by motorsport.
Stopping power comes from steel brake discs. Podium Advanced Technologies, which also makes the Futurista and Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus' endurance racing cars, will construct the Safarista. Only 10 examples will be made, each costing €570,000 (£485,000) plus taxes. The first deliveries are expected to begin in 2023.
